IAR STEM CelebrationCelebración IAR STEM

On December 22nd, in the afternoon, Johnson School students celebrated IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) success with special STEM rotations that the Johnson teachers planned. Each class got to participate in a total of 3 rotations. This was in response to high achievement on last year’s state tests. We are very proud of our students and excited to see what they can show us this year!

Each rotation was about 30 minutes long and based in science or engineering. Many of the rotations included challenges such as building the tallest snowman or creating a pipe cleaner pine tree. The objective of the activities was to stimulate higher-level thinking and problem-solving skills. Please enjoy some photographs of the STEM challenges and ask your child what they did during their rotations.

El 22 de diciembre, por la tarde, los estudiantes de la Escuela Johnson celebraron el éxito de IAR (Evaluación de preparación de Illinois) con rotaciones especiales de STEM que los maestros de Johnson planificaron. Cada clase pudo participar en un total de 3 rotaciones. Esto fue en respuesta al alto rendimiento en las pruebas estatales del año pasado. ¡Estamos muy orgullosos de nuestros estudiantes y emocionados de ver lo que pueden mostrarnos este año!

 

Cada rotación duraba unos 30 minutos y se basaba en ciencia o ingeniería. Muchas de las rotaciones incluyeron desafíos como construir el muñeco de nieve más alto o crear un pino limpiapipas. El objetivo de las actividades era estimular el pensamiento de alto nivel y las habilidades para resolver problemas.
