Tips for Success at Waldo

  1. Know your school– Make sure you understand the rules and know where to go for help.
  2. Be in School Every Day– To do well in school you must have good attendance.
  3. Know How To Get Good Grades– Study, be organized, participate, bring your materials, pay attention!
  4. Set Goals– Set short and long term realistic goals. Examples: Get a B on a test & Pass all classes for the year.
  5. Get Involved– Find an activity or sport you like to do and do it!
  6. Make Good Choices & Decisions Figure out what your options are and weigh the positives and negatives. Think about your choices and make a good decision. Ask for help from someone you trust.
  7. Deal with Stress & Anger in an appropriate way– If you are angry or stressed, take some deep breaths, ask for help from a parent or adult you trust. Find an activity you enjoy doing.
  8. Get Along With Your Parents-Be respectful, honest,  and talk to them about school and your personal life.
  9. Create a Routine for Yourself-Ensure you are getting enough sleep, getting up in time for school, and have a dedicated time and space in your day to complete homework. 
  10. Plan and Prepare for the Future-Middle school is a good time to start thinking about what kind of career you want to have.
